Actress Roseanne Barr has lashed out at African-Americans for overwhelmingly supporting California’s Proposition 8.
The comedienne accused blacks of being “bigots” and “ignorant” for supporting the ballot initiative, which amends the state constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman.
On her blog, “Roseanne World,” Barr said that the “70% of black church going californians who voted this cycle voted for prop 8 (sic)” had “misused” their votes, and were inspired by their “immoral” and “hateful” pastors and clergy.
“They voted to destroy the constitution that Obama will hopefully uphold against their wishes, by making sure that church and state remain separated,” Barr wrote.
“They showed themselves every inch as bigoted and ignorant as their white christian right wing counterpartners who voted for mccain-palin and bush-cheney,” she added.
Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Families and Children, said Barr has long been associated with the homosexual activist community – and homosexual activist groups have staged riot-like protests in recent days against Mormon churches and other supporters of Proposition 8 in Los Angeles and Palm Springs.
Even homosexual Web sites are reporting that racial epithets – including the “N” word — have been used by homosexual activists against African-Americans, he noted.
“How is it that those who demand tolerance from others are so intolerant of the people’s vote to reserve marriage for a man and a woman?” asked Thomasson.
Even liberal activists are appalled at the display of what they acknowledge is racism.
Kathryn Kolbert, president of People for the American Way, issued a statement condemning comments such as Barr’s.
“As a mother who has raised two children in a 30-year relationship with another woman, I fully understand the depth of hurt and anger at voters’ rejection of our families’ equality,” Kolbert said. “But responding to that hurt by lashing out at African Americans is deeply wrong and offensive — not to mention destructive to the goal of advancing equality.”

If blacks had voted to support gay rights in the same proportion gays voted for Obama prop 8 would have failed.Stats are stats.

Thank God we live in a free society, for however long that may last. What good is the vote of the majority if folks are looking for a radical president to overturn that vote because it doesn’t fit their agenda? The masses who voted for nobama are bigots too! Talk about ignorant!! There Is such a thing as right from wrong. Get over it already! What church are “the happy ones”(gays) planning to get “married” in? Certainly you don’t really believe God is going to sanction something He clearly hates. If it is not blessed by God, then it is not a holy union between two people. Are you planning to tell Him what is expected of Him and He better uphold your wishes, or are you going to call Him a bigot too? He makes the rules to live by - Not You! Those who want to live that life style are free to do so (only in America do we have such freedoms) And while you’re at it, leave the children out of the equation. It is wrong to expose them to these subjective lifestyles. You can’t have your cake and eat it too! Who died and made you people the new gods - who can do whatever they want and then call folks names when they object to the nonsense being shoved down their throats. Besides, the gay lifestyle is Not what it is cracked up to be! I’m sick of hearing about it already! Shut up and live your life in peace and stop demanding that I change my mind and heart to fit yours!
