If you’ve seen pictures of eighteenth and nineteenth century European crystal chandeliers, the word “chandelier” itself may immediately draw them to mind. The wide skirts, often in layers, with dazzling sparkle, light reflecting off of every crystal facet… They were grandiose and announced to castle or mansion visitors that rich people lived there.

But these chandeliers are not your grandpa’s chandelier.  One is a really terrific one…but you need to look at the 14 before them.

Brick Artist Nathan Sawaya creates amazing sculptures out of LEGO bricks. He has more than 1.5 million colored LEGO bricks in his studio to work with and his artwork takes on many forms.

The Art of the Brick is the title of his current tour now showing in North America. Using LEGOs as an art medium, his sculptures on the tour were constructed from almost one million LEGO pieces and started around the year 2000.
