   I’m sure that those responsible will just say OOPS!!!! Mankinds capacity for stupidity never ceases to amaze me. We can do some pretty fantastic things while doing some truly horrific things at the same time.

   @Biff:

   maybe because he actually followed the link and read the article, where it states (in pretty awful babelfishy english, but it’s still there in black and white) that the the two main rivers that fed the aral sea were diverted for irrigation, and THAT’S why the thing dried up.
