Zebra got snapped putting head in hippopotamus’s mouth

A zebra at Zurich Zoo appeared to be staring into the jaws of death when visitors saw it nose to nose with an open-mouthed hippopotamus. But the hippo had no intention of having the zebra for lunch – it was having its teeth cleaned.

The extraordinary sight was captured by photographer Jill Sonsteby, from Jacksonville, Florida. She said the teeth-cleaning session lasted 15 minutes and the zebra came to no harm.

“The zebra was in the same enclosure as the hippo and its baby,” said Ms Sonsteby, 34. “The hippo opened its mouth and let the zebra in there to clean.

“Everybody was snapping pictures. It was so great to be there at that moment.”

The hippopotamus is regarded as one of the most aggressive creatures in the world and has a bite that can cut a small boat in half.

Hippos can weigh up to three tonnes and are the third largest land mammal in the world.

Although they rarely kill each other, hundreds of fatal attacks on people in Africa have been recorded.

Despite its bulky frame, the hippo can outrun a human on land over short distances.

Reindeer Jolf was feeling horny and upon seeing his female zoo keeper he decided he wanted to poke her. She said NO but Jolf just would not take NO for an answer and even harrassed some of the male zoo keepers. Who, as a sign of affection, hit him over the head with a shovel.

Man gets arm ripped off by tiger at zoo

A nice day trip to the zoo ended in horror for this man and his family. Dumbass wanted to take a close-up photo of a tiger, but probably could not afford a camera with a bit of zoom power. He stuck his arm through the fence and the tiger said Thank you very much, I’ll be having that. His wife and child looked on in horror as the man’s arm was ripped off and the tiger started eating it.

Rhino can’t get it up for his lover

Meet the blue-eyed alligator

With his piercing blue eyes and pale skin this rare alligator stands out like a sore thumb. Weighing over 500 pounds, Bouya Blan is one of only 12 white alligators in the world.

The 22-year-old, whose name means white fog, lives along with three other giant leucistic alligators at the world famous Gatorland theme park in Florida.

‘People are awestruck when they see them, and just one look into those icy, blue eyes will give you chills,’ says Mark McHugh, President & CEO of Gatorland.

T.I.G.E.R.S – The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species, is an animal center in in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, that features exotic animal performances in an open environment. It’s half open zoo, half circus, and has a focus on animal conservation. The animal actors and trainers from T.I.G.E.R.S have appeared on the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and The Tonight Show.

Boy, 7, goes on killing spree in zoo, feeding reptiles to crocodile

When keepers arrived for work at the Alice Springs Reptile Centre they thought there had been a mass break-out. Thirteen animals, including a large turtle, bearded dragons and various lizards had apparently escaped from their outdoor pens.

Worse was the scene of carnage in the pen of Terry, an 11ft, 31-stone saltwater crocodile and the zoo’s star attraction. He had been feasting on his fellow reptiles.

CCTV footage revealed the truth: a seven-year-old boy had scaled a fence at the zoo, in Northern Territory, Australia, bludgeoned the giant lizards to death and fed them and others to the crocodile.
