I’ve been waiting impatiently for a glimpse at Kevin Smith’s latest flick, and today I’m happy to say that we finally get said glimpse. Here’s the red band (i.e. 18 and over only) movie trailer for Zack and Miri Make a Porno starring Seth Rogan and Elizabeth Banks, and it looks hilarious. Smith and Rogen are a match made in heaven. Zack and Miri Make a Porno hits theatres October 31st, 2008.

The last gig that Ukrainian filmmaker Vadim Perelman was attached to was an adaptation of Ayn Ran’s Atlas Shrugged. While that book does deserve a film, Perelman previously expressed his lack of interest and has now moved on. Instead, he’s supposedly directing a remake of the 1982 horror classic Poltergeist. Is anyone else tired of these ridiculous remakes of iconic classics always popping up every day?!

Coen brothers dark comedy premieres at Venice festival

The Venice Film Festival opened Wednesday night with the premiere of the Coen brothers’ dark comedy “Burn After Reading,” giving a flash of Hollywood glamour to a festival lineup with a definite art house feel.

The 21 films competing for the coveted Golden Lion at the festival, which runs through Sept. 6, will provide a snapshot of world cinema, with entries from Ethiopia, Turkey, Algeria and a Brazilian-Chinese production.

While the lineup gives the impression of being light on celebrity-driven Hollywood fare — due both to the impact of last year’s writers’ strike and a late selection process for Cannes’ springtime festival — festival director Marco Mueller said U.S. films are well represented.

Extras seek $11 million from Tom Cruise after accident

Twelve movie extras are seeking $11 million in damages from Tom Cruise and his production company after suffering broken bones, cuts and bruises in the filming of World War Two picture “Valkyrie” in Berlin last year.

The extras were injured on August 19, 2007, when the side panel of a period German army truck burst open as it drove around a corner in central Berlin.

A lawyer for the extras told Reuters Television on Tuesday that witness statements indicated the truck’s side panel had not been properly secured.

Cruise was not on the set at the time.

Here’s the trailer for Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 featuring a ton of hot babes (Gemma Atkinson, Kelly Hu, Jenny McCarthy, Autumn Reeser, and Gina Carano just to name a few), and a ton of actors who are obviously desperate for a job (with the exception of J.K. Amy Winehouse is planning to release the song James Bond bosses rejected as a potential theme for the new 007 action-thriller Quantum of Solace.

Alicia Keys and White Stripes star Jack White were eventually chosen to record the theme the film. The collaboration will mark the first original score duet. The Grammy-winning Amy was the original choice for gig, but sessions between the troubled singer and Mark Ronson broke down over creative differences.

“I want to prove they have made a big mistake. I don’t think they could have waited a bit. If they want a worldwide hit, I have them all up here,” a cross Amy bitterly rambled to Britain’s New! Magazine on Tuesday.

Here’s the new Body of Lies movie trailer, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. I’m not that big a fan of DiCaprio (although I’m a huge fan of his girlfriend), but I consider Russell Crowe one of the best actors today (probably in the top 3) and he tends to do his best work with director Ridley Scott so this is a given for me. Body of Lies hits theatres this October 10.

When Robert Downey Jr put on dark make-up for film comedy Tropic Thunder, the actor ventured into the racially charged territory of blackface - an old showbiz convention that is no laughing matter.

Downey said he initially worried that his portrayal of a white actor playing a black man could hurt his career, and he bristled at being given what he thought would be the most controversial role in the film directed by Ben Stiller.

But so far, Tropic Thunder, which opens next week in New Zealand, has generated no backlash against the 43-year-old star of Iron Man.

‘The End’ for popcorn in British cinemas

The credits are rolling in Britain for the time-honoured cinematic tradition of munching popcorn at the movies — a newspaper reported Sunday that increasing numbers of cinemas are banning it.

A combination of health-conscious cinemagoers rejecting sugar-coated popcorn and disgust at its distinctive smell is steadily spelling “The End” for the snack in some arthouse cinema chains, the Observer reported.

It quoted Daniel Broch, the owner of the renowned Everyman cinema in London’s upmarket Hampstead district, who recently bought 17 more venues.

“I will de-popcorn every new venue I acquire,” he said. “It has a disproportionate influence on the space in terms of its overwhelming smell, the cultural idea of it and the operational problems created by the mess it produces.
