Star Wars Church Freaks Attacked by Drunken Darth Vader

Star Wars Church Freaks Attacked by Drunken Darth Vader

It's hard to pin down what the craziest/funniest/most ridiculous part of this story is. Is it that there is an actual Star Wars church in England referred to as Jediism? Or is it the fact that some guy got drunk, dressed up like Darth Vader and attacked them? Or is it the fact that he got drunk on two boxes of wine? It might actually be the fact that they caught him because the camera they set up for video taping a light sabre show caught the whole thing on tape, though. Hard to tell.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Movie Trailer

Here’s the official trailer for the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars Movie, which is a prequel to the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series beginning this fall. I’m a little surprised that they decided to release this in theatres and not just kick the series off on TV, but hey, more money for Lucas.

Drunk Darth Vader's Jedi assault

Drunk Darth Vader's Jedi assault

A man posing as Darth Vader attacked a Star Wars fan, who had founded a Jedi Church, a court has heard.

Arwel Wynne Hughes, 27, from Holyhead, Anglesey, admitted assaulting Barney Jones and cousin Michael with a metal crutch. They suffered minor injuries.

Hughes, who was drunk and dressed in a black bin bag, shouted "Darth Vader!"

Earlier, when Hughes failed to arrive on time, District Judge Andrew Shaw issued an arrest warrant, adding: "I hope the force will soon be with him."

If Star Wars Was Real

If Star Wars Was Real

If you're a Star Wars fan, you probably, often think of it and discuss it with your friends as if Star Wars was real. So much information exists on planets, species, technology and the force, that it might as well be! In fact, you may know more about Star Wars than you do about the 'real world'. We all know what a creative genious George Lucas was as a story teller, and we also know of his passion for history, which caused us to ask the question: "How much of Star Wars is influenced by real events in the past?" That is ifstarwarswasreal.com

Lightsabre wins the battle of movie weapons

It may look like a humble fluorescent kitchen light, but according to a new survey it is the best weapon ever featured in a film.

The lightsabre, wielded by the Jedi knight Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars saga, fought off stiff competition to win the title from other favourites including Robin Hood’s bow and arrow and the deadly bowler hat thrown at James Bond.

Is that you, Chewie?

One day I opened my nightstand and realized that it sounded exactly like Chewbacca. I hope Darth Vader doesn't break into my apartment with a can of WD-40.

Darth Vader Samurai Armor

Darth Vader Samurai Armor

If you are a fan of Star Wars, you might recognize such similarities as the design of Queen Amidala’s resembling a Geisha, or even the shootouts between spacecrafts that evoke thoughts of Word War II dogfights. One of the more subtle character designs that drew inspiration from the past is that of the ominous Darth Vader and his slight resemblance to a Samurai.

At the annual International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, N.M., the star balloonist has his own security detail: Storm troopers.

Belgian Benoit Lambert's hot-air balloon, in the shape of Darth Vader's mask, is harder to navigate than traditionally shaped balloons. But Lambert says he flies confidently because "the force is with us."

$500,000 win and he wants to be a Stormtrooper

Not so long ago, in a galaxy not that far away, an unassuming Porirua man won $500,000 in Lotto - and drew up a strange shopping list.

With his wife he ticked off the obvious - pay off the mortgage, buy a new car, travel overseas, give to charity - but with The Force clearly with him, he decided to treat himself.

Now, he is set to become a Star Wars Imperial Stormtrooper, a member of the Galactic Empire.

Femtrooper

Femtrooper

This suit of armor was designed by Richie several years ago for his daughter. It gained notoriety and several other female friends including myself requested a set.

He complied and the Femtroopers (aka Richie's Angels) were born. There are approximately 30 or so of these world wide and it comes as a 4 piece set or so. It may have changed since I last purchased it.

Reverse References

Reverse References

From childhood onward, George Lucas was inspired and influenced by many sources: books, comic books, film, history, legends and myths, TV and yes, even the family dog.

Concentrating on influences or references utilized in films based solely on the Star Wars saga doesn't paint a whole reference picture. Some people may be surprised that Lucas borrowed so many elements from the past. But, anyone who watches films or reads books, all genres and generations, realizes that there is nothing new in the world. We repeat and repackage themes over and over again. I, for one, am thankful there are people on the planet, like Lucas, who pay homage to ideas, story concepts and visual elements from admired and legendary foundations.

I created Reverse References to catalogue Lucas's (and to some extent his artist's) referential elements. Old becoming new through interpretation and presentation.

Star Wars couple Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen have been voted as having the least plausible on-screen chemistry by film fans.

The pair beat Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez for their performance in Gigli into second place, which was made when they were a real life couple.

Former duo Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman also made the list with Eyes Wide Shut.

British pairing Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom were thought "too stiff upper lip" in Pirates of the Caribbean.

A man dressed as Chewbacca was arrested after police said the street performer head-butted a tour guide operator in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Frederick Evan Young, 44, of Los Angeles was booked Thursday for investigation of misdemeanor battery, police Lt. Paul Vernon said.
